June 16, 2010: This week’s featured fruits and vegetables are: sweet cherries, garlic scapes – great for sauté or pesto, nice head lettuce, beets with tops, soon you will be tired of them, zucchini, Spring onions, rhubarb and new red Norland potatoes.

Here is a link from CSA member Lynn Karpay picking up at Temple Beth Ami– thank you Lynn – What to do with garlic scapes.

Reminder on CSA Etiquette

Our farmer, Pam, attempts to make all boxes the same, but sometimes that is just not possible. Please do not look through other boxes to substitute items. Each box has a number of items based on value. Please take what is in your box. It all balances out through the season.

My Friend the Garlic Scape

In case you have never seen/eaten garlic scapes, you can read about them in the Washington Post click here.

Here’s another recipe with garlic scapes – I used it last year and remember is being quite good!
