How to Join for Spring/Summer 2010

Click here to see the 2010 Spring-Summer CSA signup form. You must have Adobe Reader or compatible software. Click here to download the free Reader.

Starting one week earlier

The first Spring/Summer CSA pickup will be on May 12, not May 19 as posted earlier. This gives us a full 21 weeks of vegetable deliveries. Spring/Summer season runs Wednesdays, May 12 through September 29.

We have 3 new pick-up sites for 2010. Sign up soon, we need a minimum of 50 shares to start each new site.

new! Potomac pick-up is at the McLean School, 8224 Lochinver Lane
new! West Rockville pick-up is on Baylor Ave, close to the Rockville 270 exit
new! Kemp Mill pick-up is on Kersey Ave at Arcola, close to 495 Univ Blvd Exit

Sandy Spring pick-up is in the center of Sandy Spring
East Rockville pick-up is off Norbeck Rd, two blocks from the Rockville Metro
Kensington pick-up is one mile from old town Kensington

You will always pick up your shares at the same location.

How Sandy Spring CSA Works

CSA members and farmers are in partnership. Members provide the upfront capital for the farmers and share in the bounty. Unlike at the grocery store, CSA members pay the farmer directly. Your CSA payment covers salaries, seed, equipment, delivery, etc.

In exchange, each week throughout the growing season, the farmer delivers individual, pre-packed portions of the weekly harvest (called shares) to our pick-up locations in Kensington, Rockville and Sandy Spring, Maryland. It’s like a private farmers market.

A share feeds two-four adults. Some vegetarian households require more than one share. Shares may be split among two or more people or two or more households. Members bear responsibility for divvying up the share.

When will you have sign up for next year?

We usually have the Spring/Summer application ready and on the web site shortly after the Fall season has begun. At this point we’re still finalizing members for Fall. Thanks for asking about 2009.

Concept/Cost where is the latter on your website? without spending time hunting for this information. Cost is always a factor in purchasing any product. Ranges are fine

Is there a cost to join? Also, I will not be here the beginning of the summer, so would it be better to wait until next year to start?

I am very interested in joining with the new Kemp Mill pick-up but I often don’t get home from work until 7 pm. What are the hours of the pick-up?

  • 26 admin // Feb 1, 2010 at 9:19 pm

We don’t yet know the exact opening time, but 7pm is the usual closing time. Usually shares are not taken away right at 7.

Is it too late to join for this season? What is the cost?
