Farmer’s Journal - cherries

Well – we woke up to see the birdies diving in the cherry trees – a sure indicator that the cherries are ready ;-) IF it does not rain – we might have cherries again next week – we are also hoping for some zucchinis – something more for the grill.

This week was an entertaining week – Calvert Farm was featured on Good Morning America for a ½ hour segment about CSA’s on Thursday June 19th - wow – what an experience – ABC linked our web on their page – what a run on emails (LOL). As result of that we had a front page full-color write up with our local paper, The Cecil Whig.

We are starting our Fall planning – getting our seed trays ready to start the fall broccoli, brussel sprouts, cauliflower etc. –
We hope to start digging the garlic crop soon – we will take it out of the field & hang it in the barn to dry & cure.

Many visitors & volunteers have been coming by to give hand with all the chores that it takes to run the farm – always something – right now we are looking at the weeds & taking the heads off the thistle so it does not flower ;-(
